If you read my About page, you’ll know I don’t always make things from scratch. Sometimes finding something that fits into your calories AND tastes good requires a little hunt. This is a meal suggestion.
If you’re like me, then you grew up eating Egg McMuffins and similar breakfast sandwiches. I’ve since found the Jimmy Dean line of frozen breakfast sandwiches, but those can be hefty on a tight calorie budget. They have lighter versions, usually with an English Muffin and Turkey Sausage, but still tasty. Side note: toast the muffin in the toaster while warming eggs in microwave. This eliminates the chewy muffin. Thanks, Will Wilkes, for that suggestion.
The gem I bring up today is from Red’s, who makes a breadless breakfast sandwich. They are high protein and low calorie. As far as flavor goes, they tend to rely on their accompanying flavors. Seasonings, sauces, and things like that help transform this protein hoss into whatever you like. I’ve tried them with Tony’s Chacheres, with Sea Salt, and even with some Whataburger signature sauces.
The bottom line is that if your calorie deficit is important and you still want the luxury of quick foods that taste good, then this is a great option.
This meal will take two minutes to make, start to finish and yield 250 calories (17g protein) with Whataburger sauce included.
