DASH My Pint

DASH My Pint

I got a new gadget yesterday!! This DASH My Pint seems to be the perfect size for testing recipes. I made a quick sample of frozen yogurt last night using Two Good Vanilla Greek Yogurt, but it was meh. I think I was impatient, but I’ll try that again later.

Today I created two Vegan Vanilla ice cream recipes and tested one just now. I’m looking at Vegan because avoiding heavy dairy products is a super easy way to cut calories in a dessert type snack. You couldn’t tell my ice cream was Vegan if I didn’t tell you. Let me tell you how much RK loves taste testing ice cream. 🤣🤣

Recipe 1 (Today) was about 130 calories for the pint. Not too bad especially when I had to split it with my junior taste tester. When I land on a recipe I like, I’ll be sure to share. I’m starting with Vanilla because I’m a firm believer in mastering the basic flavors before jumping into other creative flavors.

If you’re into testing things or just want to make regular ice cream, get ya one of these. Some reviews said it was noisy, but if you’ve ever made ice cream using one of the barrel type makers, this thing is a whisper compared to that. There’s not really much to it — a motor, paddle, freezing bowl, cup to hold the freezing bowl, and a spatula.

UPDATE: I’ve used the My Pint for three different recipes, but only one of those was actual standard ice cream. I wasn’t overly pleased with the results. Either the mixture wasn’t cold enough and therefore wouldn’t freeze up quick enough to firm or the mixture immediately firmed and rather than whipping smooth, it clung to the beater and spun around the machine doing nothing. Don’t get me wrong, even melted ice cream is better than no ice cream LOL.
